Your physician will examine your scalp and identify a “donor area.” This area is generally found on the back or sides of the head, where hair is at its thickest. Once the donor area has been determined, the scalp is fully anaesthetized. A thin strip of scalp tissue is removed from the donor area, and the hair follicles are isolated into their natural follicular units. These tiny clusters of hair follicles are then carefully implanted into the desired area. Within 24 hours, small scabs (or crusts) will form around each graft. These will fall off in 7-10 days. The implanted hair will then begin to grow after 6-12 weeks, and theses hairs will continue to grow for the rest of your life.
Please note that existing hair in the balding areas may continue to shed. As such, in some cases, a further touchup may be required to maintain the desired hair density.
