Donor hair is a limited resource which when moved to the balding area will
grow for a lifetime but does not regenerate in the area from which it was
taken (the donor location). |
| -- 2 |
The balding area may still have existing hairs that may be part of the
balding process. If the balding process continues after the hair transplant
, only the transplanted hair will remain. Thus over time the appearance may
show some thinning in this transplanted area, however if this occurs later
in life the thinness may not be as critical to an older person. If this does
occur, this area can be enhanced with more transplants whenever you desire. |
| -- 3 |
The balding area does not require 100% of what was once there. The eye of
an observer does not see thinning unless more than 50% of hair is lost. |
| -- 4 |
Colour of hair makes a difference. The illusion of fullness can be best
created with light hair on light skin, or dark hair on dark skin. |
| -- 5 |
Curly hair helps to give an illusion of more cover.
|
| -- 6 |
No one has the same density of hair per square centimeter in the donor
area. Density can vary from the best being 200 hairs per sq. cm. to as
little as 50 hairs per sq. cm. The effect of the transplant is not only
dependent on the density but also on the size of the donor area. |
| -- 7 |
Our hairlines are created with single hairs at 40 - 50% of what was the
original density. The percentage will be dependent on the above factors of
coarseness of hair, colour and your future hairstyle. |
| -- 8 |
As we transplant from the front hairline toward the crown, the density of
the transplanted hair is usually decreased in order to obtain more area than
the donor hair provided. |
| -- 9 |
Since a maximum donor strip can measure 27cm long by 1.5cm wide at any one
time and because the opening has to be closed without tension, the area of
baldness has to be adjusted by using the decreasing percentage to cover the
larger bald area which exceeds more than the donor hair provided. |
| -- 10 |
Once all the factors are computed then we can determine the ultimate
effect achievable at any one session. By using this approach we are able to
best achieve the illusion of fullness of hair. We will discuss with you how
this illusion compares to your expectations. |

At our company we charge by the measured area of donor tissue taken and
the fee is usually based on a loading fee that starts at $4,000.00 Cnd. for
a 13 sq. centimeter donor strip. Each additional 2 sq cm taken will
incrementally be added to this amount by $500.00 more. |
